Toilet installation in Toronto
A running toilet, a cracked bowl, or a bathroom remodel all end at the same job: set the new fixture on a sound flange with a dry seal.
Labour typically ranges from $200 to $500. Extra cost applies if the flange is broken, the shutoff must be replaced, or the new toilet has a different footprint. Bring your own fixture or we can source one.
A toilet that runs all night wastes water and money. A toilet that rocks will leak at the wax ring. A hairline crack in the bowl will fail. None of those get better with another flapper from the hardware store if the porcelain is done.
Signs you need a new toilet
Constant running after you have replaced the flapper and fill valve. A cracked tank or bowl. A flush that is weak even with a clear drain. A rocking base that has already stained the floor. A remodel that wants a comfort-height or a different style.
If the toilet overflows because the drain is blocked, that is a cleaning job first. Replacing the fixture will not clear a main-line clog. We will say which problem you have.

What affects the price
A straightforward swap on a good flange is the low end of the range. A rotten flange, a seized shutoff, or a comfort-height toilet on an old rough-in takes more time and parts. We tell you before those extras start.
Older Toronto bathrooms sometimes hide a broken flange under layers of flooring. Lifting the toilet is how we find it. If the flange must be repaired or replaced, that is a separate line on the estimate, not a surprise on the card.
How the install works
We shut the water, drain the old toilet, and lift it. We inspect the flange and the closet bolts. If they are sound, we set the new wax or seal, place the new toilet, connect the supply, and test for leaks at the base and the tank. We haul the old fixture if that is in the scope.
If you supplied the toilet, we check the box for damage before we break the old seal. A cracked new bowl is the store’s problem until we install it. After we set it, we own the install.
Same-day replacement and relocating a toilet
A same-location swap is usually same day. Moving a toilet to a new wall is a drain and vent job, not a fixture swap. That needs a new rough-in and often a new drain line. See drain line installation if the bathroom layout is changing.

What we do not skip
A new toilet on a rotten flange will leak. A new toilet on a seized shutoff will leave you without a way to turn the water off. We replace those parts when they are done, and we price them before we start. Comfort-height and elongated bowls need space. We will say if the room cannot take the model you bought.
If the toilet is overflowing because the main is blocked, we clean the drain first. Installing a new bowl on a backed-up line is how the new wax ring fails on day one. Main drain via toilet flange, toilet reinstalled, starts at $450 when that is the access we have.
We haul the old fixture when that is in the quote. We leave the floor dry and the room usable. Call if the toilet rocks, runs, or you already have the new one in a box in the hallway.
Choosing a toilet that fits
Measure the rough-in before you buy: wall to bolt centres, usually 12 inches. A 10-inch or 14-inch rough-in needs a matching toilet. Comfort-height helps sore knees. A round bowl fits a small room. An elongated bowl is more comfortable and needs more floor. We will confirm the fit before we break the old seal.
