The private-side water line runs from the property line into the house. When it leaks, is lead, or is too small for modern fixtures, pressure drops and water quality suffers. You may also see a wet lawn, a meter that spins with every tap off, or rusty water at the first morning draw.

Low pressure at every faucet is different from one weak shower. Whole-home symptoms usually sit on the service line, not the fixture. A single weak shower is often a cartridge or a clogged head. Every tap weak at once is the main.

Trenchless replacement on tight Toronto lots
Downtown and older lots often have little room to trench. When the existing line can guide a new pipe, we use a trenchless pull to limit lawn and walkway damage. You still need access at the ends. You do not always need a trench the length of the yard.
If the pipe has already failed in a way that blocks that path, we open the ground and still restore the site. Interlock, gardens, and shared driveways get a plan before we book the crew. You get a written estimate before we start. The city-side portion is a separate conversation when it applies.

Length and diameter drive the price. A ¾-inch line up to 30 feet commonly runs $2,500 to $3,800. The same size at 30 to 45 feet is often $3,600 to $5,200. A 1-inch line up to 30 feet is often $3,500 to $4,600, and $4,500 to $5,800 at 30 to 45 feet. Over 45 feet or awkward access needs a site visit.

How the job runs
We confirm the private-side material and route, locate utilities, and choose trenchless or open excavation. On the day we isolate the service, install the new pipe, restore pressure, and check every fixture. The old line is abandoned or removed as the method requires.
You should have water again the same day on a typical residential replacement. If the city must do its side first or after, we explain the sequence so you are not left in the middle.
Replacement versus a water service upgrade
Replacement fixes a leaking, lead, or failed line. An upgrade also increases diameter so the house can run more fixtures at once. Many Toronto jobs are both: the old ½-inch or ¾-inch lead or galvanized line comes out, and a larger modern line goes in.
